I am representing a rapidly growing platform provider of hardware and software solutions for smart building applications. We are seeking a New Construction Sales Manager that will be responsible for sales (bookings) and general business development within new construction sales nationwide, both direct in indirect.

Vertical market focus will be Higher Education, K-12 Education, Life Sciences, Owner Occupied Commercial Real Estate, Office Buildings, Special Purpose, and some Government.

Manage, report, and support the existing channel and leverage other regional directors in all new construction selling activities including presentations to engineers, specification writing support, training, presentations to contractors and negotiation support.

Responsibilities include:

New Construction Rep Management

  • Establish and manage to yearly bookings goals for each firm
  • Work to increase sales efforts with non-performing reps
  • Replace consistently non-performing reps when needed
  • Manage channel designation and pricing levels for each rep firm

Rep Recruitment and/or rep replacement

  • Recruit sales representatives in defined territories who can deliver long-term sales growth and support the organization’s product and service initiatives.

Direct Sales Efforts to capture and/or grow strategic key projects.

  • New Construction projects within Key Strategic Accounts will be the primary responsibility

Maintain key relationships with top 25 Engineering and/or AE firms nationwide. Establish regular communication strategy with marketing team and develop a regular drum beat of touch points whether educational, case studies or overall product insight. Understand major Utilities incentives as they apply to New Construction.

If you have proven successes selling to the new construction market with an engineered product / solution and / or direct sales experience in hardware and software controls solutions, HVAC and/or energy efficiency marketplace, large account management experience, and a background working with design engineering firms and a comprehensive knowledge of the new construction sales process – Let’s Talk!

This position will be responsible for $2-3M annual product sales initially with the expectation that this will quadruple in 3-4 year time frame. It requires a self-driven, autonomous person with excellent time management skills, while being detailed oriented to establish and utilize a process driven management approach for a large footprint with potentially 100+ projects in a given year. You will report directly to the CEO.

Ideally this position will be Midwest based. The “right” candidate can be located anywhere. Travel to meet reps and engineers is required. Travel will be higher initially but settle in to be 25 – 50% and very project / rep dependent.

The opportunity offers a base salary plus a quarterly commission (allowing you to double the base salary). Base salary will be competitive along with a very comprehensive / excellent benefits package – including 50% 401 K matching up to 6%, reimbursement for non-covered medical expenses and restricted stock options.
