Ted has over 35 years of electrical industry experience, including starting Egret Consulting Group in 1999 as an executive recruiter solely within this industry. Ted has written industry white papers on Onboarding and LED technology, plus a monthly newsletter that speaks to the talent impacts on industry changes. Ted has also been a contributing author to Electrical Wholesaling, TED Magazine, and LEDs Magazine and is frequently cited in leading industry journals. Ted holds PhD and MS degrees in Psychology from Tulane University, as well as a BS in Psychology from Ohio State University. After academics Ted spent nearly 16 years with Cooper Industries, including 4.5 years as global VP, Sales for their $1B lighting division. Ted’s industry ties extend throughout the electrical industry, regularly meeting with CEO’s from the industry global giants, to CEO’s of small startup companies. Ted sold Egret Consulting to Brooke Ziolo in 2019 and joined Merrimack Group in 2020. Merrimack is an M&A consultancy firm. Ted is Managing Director and assists business owners in developing their exit strategy and delivering a professional approach to confidentially selling their company.
Ted has had an active M&A business throughout his tenure with Egret; successfully concluding 5 transactions. Ted’s strength is his extensive industry knowledge and the ability to promote the attributes of a seller’s company through a detailed market assessment and analysis process. Ted’s expertise is the channel dynamics that can influence the valuation of a selling company.
Ted is the former Executive Director of the International Retained Search Associates, a global corporation of over 25 retained search offices on three continents that offers clients the ability to source talent globally, with local presence. Ted is also a long-term member of Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), a member of EMerge Alliance and a regular attendee of LightFair International, Strategies in Light and regional industry events.
