I’m partnering with a lighting technology company to hire a Business Development leader who can help bring a genuinely differentiated low-voltage platform to market.

The company has developed a lighting-first approach to intelligent building infrastructure. Its technology powers and controls lighting, and other connected devices, through simple, low-voltage wiring while integrating with broader building-management systems.

The platform has already been selected for several significant projects, including a nearly 500,000 square foot net-zero commercial development. The company now needs someone who can turn that momentum into a consistent pipeline.

You’ll help shape the commercial strategy while actively creating opportunities. Responsibilities will include:

• Developing relationships with lighting and controls OEMs
• Working through OEM partners to engage their rep agency networks
• Building relationships with integrators, contractors, building owners, and other channel partners
• Advancing warm leads and strengthening existing partnerships
• Managing the full business development process from the initial pitch through persistent follow-up, contracts, and booked orders

We’re looking for someone who:

• Understands how lighting OEMs, reps, integrators, and project stakeholders work together
• Is technically curious and excited to demonstrate a sophisticated product
• Thinks strategically but is equally willing to pick up the phone and drive the next step
• Follows up relentlessly and keeps customers and partners engaged
• Is comfortable working independently within a small, entrepreneurial company
• Wants meaningful ownership and is motivated by a commission heavy compensation structure
• Can travel approximately one to two weeks per month as needed

The role can be based anywhere in the United States. The company is a small team with a startup mindset, significant flexibility, and ambitious growth plans.

This could be an especially compelling opportunity for someone who has learned the lighting or controls industry inside a larger organization but is frustrated by how slowly things get done and is ready to help build something.
