Regional Sales & Business Development Manager – USA

Remote

Egret Consulting has been retained to identify a Regional Sales & Business Development Manager to lead the U.S. growth strategy for an established global manufacturer of electrical connectivity, industrial automation, and energy management products.

This is not a traditional territory sales position where you inherit an established book of business and simply manage what already exists. The company has more than 50 years of manufacturing and engineering experience, approximately 400 employees, a presence in more than 100 countries and an existing multimillion dollar U.S. business.

Now they want to build on it.

The person we hire will take ownership of developing the U.S. market. You will identify and recruit new electrical distributors while building relationships with OEMs, panel builders, system integrators and other customers who specify, integrate and use these products.

The portfolio is broad and highly technical, including DIN rail terminal blocks, relays, timers, power supplies, energy analyzers, monitoring products, industrial connectivity products and IoT based energy management solutions. This gives you multiple ways into an account and the ability to develop business beyond a single product category.

We are looking for someone who understands both channel development and the actual application.

Your background could come from terminal blocks, control panel components, industrial automation or power distribution products. The exact product category is less important than your ability to understand technical electrical products, develop distribution channels and credibly engage with OEMs, panel builders, system integrators, and other technical customers.

You should know the difference between calling on a distributor and actually developing one. This company needs someone who can identify the right regional partners, establish the relationship, create demand beyond the distributor and turn that activity into sustainable revenue.

This is an individual contributor role with significant autonomy and direct access to senior leadership. You will be supported by international sales, technical, R&D and sales support teams, but you will be the person in the field driving the U.S. strategy.

During your first 60 days, you will be expected to develop a U.S. go to market plan identifying priority markets, target distributors, OEM opportunities, and realistic revenue objectives. From there, success will be measured by new customer development, distributor partnerships, OEM penetration, and revenue growth.

The position can be based remotely anywhere in the United States. Travel throughout the U.S. will be required, along with initial product and technical training at the company’s international headquarters.

A bachelor’s degree is required, along with successful sales or business development experience within electrical products, industrial automation, power distribution, or a closely related technical market.

Perhaps the most compelling part of the opportunity is what this position could become. The person joining today has the opportunity to be the individual who builds that foundation and potentially grows into leadership of the future U.S. organization.
