I am partnering with a privately held firm specializing in electrical design-build solutions that is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator. This role is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on professional to create consistency in estimating processes, partner closely with project teams, and play a critical role in shaping the company’s continued growth.

Primarily serving Central and Southern California, the firm also selectively handles projects in Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

Areas of deep expertise include electrical controls and panel fabrication (with a UL-508 certified panel shop), automation, power distribution, arc-flash safety, factory data systems, critical power systems, system integration, preventive maintenance, and more.

As the Senior Electrical Estimator, you’ll be responsible for handling all estimating across the organization from small projects of a few thousand dollars to major, multi-million-dollar design-build contracts. The ideal candidate is comfortable with both complex industrial projects and fast-paced environments where collaboration, precision, and client relationships are key.
- Lead the end-to-end estimating process for small and large projects ($250K–$5M typical, up to $10M+).
- Develop and maintain consistent estimating templates, processes, and proposals across the company.
- Partner with Project Managers, Engineering, Sales, and Accounting to ensure estimates align with project goals, budgets, and margins.
- Assist Project Managers with pricing, change orders, and budget establishment, ensuring profitability is maintained.
- Conduct job walks, takeoff meetings, and technical reviews, relaying critical information to PMs and clients.
- Oversee and manage costs with spreadsheets and software tools.
- Support new business development with competitive, accurate, and timely proposals.
- Potential to mentor junior estimators as the company continues to grow.
Typical Day-to-Day:
- Review bid documents, drawings, and client requirements.
- Build detailed cost estimates (labor, materials, subcontractors) for new construction and design-build projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and PMs to ensure technical accuracy of proposals.
- Meet with clients (food processing, pharma, car manufacturing, and life sciences) to refine project scope and expectations.
- Track costs and update budgets as projects progress.
- Present proposals and strategies to leadership (reporting directly to the owner / founder).
Must-Haves:
- Proven experience estimating complex electrical construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong communication skills: able to lead client discussions, job walks, and technical takeoffs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Customer-oriented mindset with the patience to handle difficult conversations and set realistic expectations.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet-based estimating and software.
