Egret Consulting

VP of Construction / Electrical Contractor

I am partnering with a leading Electrical Contractor that has real roots and a clear identity. Founded in 1967 and now under newer ownership over the past four years, they have built a reputation on doing what they say they are going to do. They take pride in their work, they stand behind it, and they expect the same from their people. This is not a place where decisions get made in a vacuum. It is collaborative by design. Everyone has a voice, and the best ideas win.

Today the business is doing about $20M in revenue, with an average project size around $800K, and some projects pushing north of $2M. They have a strong service and maintenance division, but this role is focused on construction. The opportunity here is to step into a leadership team that cares, a President who is steady and detail oriented, and ownership that is invested in building something meaningful and sustainable.

The Vice President of Construction is the leader of the construction side of the business. You are responsible for how work gets done, how teams perform, and ultimately how the company delivers in the field. This role owns operations, but it is not meant to sit behind a desk. You will be in it. In the field. In conversations. Bridging the gap between what is happening on paper and what is actually happening on the job.

You will oversee Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and through them the foremen and field teams. This is a layered organization with structure in place, including multiple levels of foremen, all designed to set people up for success. Your job is to make that structure work better, tighter, and more consistently.

At its core, this role is about leadership and accountability. You are responsible for project execution, labor productivity, cost control, and overall performance of the construction division. You are also responsible for building alignment between the office and the field, improving communication, and making sure everyone is rowing in the same direction.

Success in this role comes down to process improvement and buy in. Not just putting systems in place but getting people to believe in them and follow them. There is an opportunity here to tighten operations, improve workflows, and create consistency across projects without losing the culture that makes the company special.

You will report into the President. He is thoughtful, measured, and very much a check the boxes type of leader. This role requires someone who will step in, be proactive, address issues early, and not let things sit. This is a partnership. He needs someone he can trust to dig in, push when needed, and help elevate the organization.

Externally, you will represent the company in the market. Building relationships with general contractors, construction managers, and owners is part of the job. Internally, you will work closely with estimating, finance, and leadership to make sure projects are set up right and executed the right way.

Compensation for the role is in the $180k to $220k range, with the potential for a vehicle and a bonus structure. Benefits are better than most in the industry, with a 67/33 split on healthcare, dental coverage, a 401K and Roth option, and a profit-sharing program at three percent of gross pay. There is also an employee assistance program that goes beyond what you typically see.

This is an onsite role based in CT. A great fit for somebody in the NYC area and is built for someone who wants to lead from the front, be present, and make a real impact.

If you are someone who takes pride in the work, values accountability, and understands that strong teams are built through trust, communication, and consistency, this is the kind of opportunity where you can make a difference.
