Territory Sales Manager – Power Utility & Substation Equipment | TX & OK

Egret Consulting is partnering with an established and well-respected electrical manufacturers’ representative organization expanding its sales coverage into Texas and Oklahoma.

We are seeking two experienced Territory Sales Managers. One individual will be responsible for Texas and another for Oklahoma.

Our client brings more than 40 years of experience representing respected manufacturers of electrical equipment, components, and engineered solutions serving the power utility, substation, OEM, and industrial markets. The organization has developed longstanding relationships throughout the electrical industry by combining technical product knowledge, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to representing its manufacturing partners with professionalism and integrity.

The product portfolio encompasses a broad range of power transmission, distribution, and substation technologies, including high-voltage switching equipment, instrument transformers, insulators, connectors, transformer components, substation structures, prefabricated control buildings, switchgear, wire and cable, and other critical electrical infrastructure products.

As the organization expands into Texas and Oklahoma, it is seeking accomplished sales professionals who understand the utility market, have established relationships with key decision makers, and know how to develop business for a diverse portfolio of electrical manufacturers.

These positions require individuals who can take ownership of their respective territories, identify new business opportunities, strengthen relationships with existing and prospective customers, and establish a meaningful presence for the organization’s manufacturing partners.

The successful candidates will have experience selling directly to investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives, municipal power systems, substation packagers, and consulting engineering firms. Understanding how utility projects are developed, engineered, specified, bid, and awarded is essential. Equally important is the ability to engage with engineering, procurement, operations, and project management personnel to identify opportunities early in the decision-making process.

Experience working within an electrical manufacturers’ representative agency is strongly preferred. Our client is particularly interested in professionals who understand the dynamics of representing multiple complementary product lines, managing relationships with manufacturing principals, and positioning technical solutions based on customer applications and project requirements.

This is an opportunity for someone who already knows the utility and substation markets and can leverage that experience to establish and grow a territory with considerable autonomy.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Established sales experience within the electric utility, power transmission, distribution, or substation equipment markets.
  • Strong relationships with investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, substation packagers, and consulting engineering firms in Texas or Oklahoma.
  • Previous experience with an electrical manufacturers’ representative agency, preferably representing multiple product lines serving the utility market.
  • Technical familiarity with substation equipment, electrical infrastructure products, and the applications associated with utility transmission and distribution systems.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop new business, manage complex sales cycles, influence product specifications, and build lasting customer relationships.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturers, engineering teams, procurement departments, and other stakeholders throughout the project development and purchasing process.
  • The ability to independently manage territory sales activities, identify market opportunities, and develop strategic relationships that generate sustainable revenue growth.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship management skills, along with a reputation for professionalism and integrity.

Beyond industry experience, our client is seeking established sales professionals who understand that success in the utility market requires much more than simply presenting a product line. It requires knowing the customers, understanding their technical and operational challenges, recognizing where opportunities exist, and earning the confidence of the people responsible for specifying and purchasing equipment.

Location: Candidates must currently reside in Texas or Oklahoma and will be responsible for developing sales within their respective state.

Compensation: Competitive compensation structured according to the candidate’s relevant industry experience, technical knowledge, customer relationships, and demonstrated sales success.

For an experienced utility sales professional who has built a strong reputation and established relationships throughout Texas or Oklahoma, this opportunity offers the chance to play an important role in expanding the market presence of a respected electrical manufacturers’ representative organization.
