Egret Consulting
Lead Design Engineer
Electrical Design | Commercial, Industrial & Mission Critical Projects – NJ
Egret Consulting is partnering with a growing electrical design and engineering organization supporting complex commercial, industrial, and mission critical construction projects that is seeking a Lead Design Engineer.
Our client has built its reputation on delivering exceptionally detailed, accurate, and constructable electrical designs for demanding projects, including data centers, hospitals, airports, and other large-scale facilities. Their approach goes beyond traditional drafting and modeling, emphasizing practical installation requirements, engineering accuracy, and the ability to simplify complex projects.
The Lead Design Engineer will take ownership of electrical design execution across multiple projects while providing technical direction and leadership to a team of experienced drafters and modelers. This position requires someone who understands not only how electrical systems are designed, but how those designs translate into actual field installation.
Working closely with Project Managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines, this individual will oversee project scope, design development, drawing quality, schedules, and technical deliverables. Responsibilities include establishing project requirements and appropriate levels of development (LOD), delegating design assignments, reviewing and approving drawings, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
A significant component of this position involves advanced Revit modeling and the development of efficient, repeatable design processes. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience with Revit families, parameters, plug-ins, and design workflows, including Evolve, while helping establish consistent drafting standards and improve overall team productivity.
Equally important is the ability to lead people. The Lead Design Engineer will supervise and mentor drafters and modelers, coordinate assignments across simultaneous projects, monitor progress, and maintain accountability for quality and deadlines. This individual will also participate in client meetings, evaluate project requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback into final construction documents.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A minimum of 10 years of electrical design experience supporting commercial, industrial, residential, or mixed-use construction projects.
- At least five years of advanced Revit experience, including family creation, parameter configuration, and proficiency with Revit plug-ins such as Evolve.
- Demonstrated experience leading design teams, delegating technical assignments, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, field installation practices, constructability, and detailed drawing development.
- Experience coordinating electrical designs with other engineering disciplines and construction project teams.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable electrical codes, design standards, quality requirements, and document control.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional technical accuracy.
Beyond technical qualifications, our client is seeking someone who takes genuine pride in the quality of their work. This is an opportunity for an experienced design professional who enjoys developing solutions from the ground up, appreciates the importance of clear and accurate construction documents, and understands how effective leadership contributes to successful project execution.
The organization offers a collaborative, growth-oriented environment that values creativity, professional development, accountability, and work-life balance.
Compensation: $150k to $165k base salary, with annual salary increases, 100% company-paid health benefits for your entire family, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid vacation, and holidays.
For an accomplished electrical design professional who wants to combine hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and meaningful influence over complex construction projects, this position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing organization that places equal importance on engineering excellence and its people.
